NEW JERSEY RUN FOR THE FALLEN

The New Jersey Run for the Fallen is a compilation of active-duty military runners and support crew whose mission is clear and simple: To run one mile for every New Jersey service member killed as a result of serving during the War on Terror including Operation Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, and New Dawn. Each mile of sweat and pain and each flag saluted are to pay homage to one service member’s life and their family.  The last weekend of September we run across New Jersey to raise awareness for the lives of those who fought and died, to rejuvenate their memories, keep their spirits alive, to aid in the healing process of the New Jersey Gold Star families, and to bring attention to New Jersey residents of the high cost of freedom.

Post 524 members support this annual event by paying honor to our fallen heroes and we provide housing and meals to the Gold Star families, Blue Star Mothers, the military-run teams, and their support crews during their stay in Ocean City.

The 2022 Run passed through Ocean City on Thursday, September 22, 2022.

A brief ceremony honoring these brave men and women was held at each of the Hero Markers listed below.

"Duty, Honor, Country - those three hallowed words reverently dictate what you ought to be, what you can be, what you will be. They are your rallying point to build courage when courage seems to fail, to regain faith when there seems to be little cause for faith, to create hope when hope becomes forlorn. "

(Gen. Douglas MacArthur's speech to the Corps of Cadets at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., May 12, 1962)

It is our responsibility to Honor, Remember, and  Never Forget those who paid for our Freedom with the ultimate sacrifice.
