Morvay - Miley - Cruice Post 524

Scouting

Support for the Boy Scout movement came at The American Legion's first National Convention in 1919. Today, there are more than 2,500 Boy Scout units sponsored by Legion Posts throughout the country.

Supporting Boy Scout activities is natural for Legionnaires, who bring their service-learned skills and experiences as Veterans to bear to help build character and positive traits in
"Young America." Few other Post activities generate more goodwill from the community.

Post 524 is active with both Ocean City’s Boy Scout Troop 32 and Cub Scout Pack 51.  We support candidates who wish to become Eagle Scouts and other community based programs involving our local Scouts.  We are a depository of retired flags and we routinely turn over these flags to Troop 32 for ceremonial disposal.

TROOP 79 EAGLE SCOUT PROJECT
Seaville Scout David Laferty of Troop 79 (pictured above in  the orange shirt), with the support of his fellow scouts from Troops 79, 97 and 32, completed his Eagle Scout Project last Saturday, October 17th. David’s project entailed the installation of a flag pole base at our new building. He was responsible for the design and installation, as well as raising the funds needed for the effort. The Post was one of his sponsors and our Service Officer Tom Tumelty, who is also the liaison person to the scouts, worked with David and our building contractor to make sure that the project was completed on schedule.
Congratulations, David!
